When I told a friend about the golden Pagoda, she said
“Oh, so smart of them to build one big solid gold Pagoda hor.
If they build smaller ones, they could be carried away leh?”
Monks and nuns are common sights here. Don’t be surprised to hear chanting nun(s) approaching you some time some where. The locals there will give dana (or donation) whenever they see them and tourists should do the same, I guess.
My first impression of the city was dry, humid, dusty, lots of road works and traffic jams.
Since we did not go around much as we were in the meditation centre 10 days out of the 12 days (including arriving late evening on the first day), I can confidently say that I had enjoyed their food the most especially the breakfasts and lunches taken during the retreat.
Thank you, kalyanamitta Rosie, for all the arrangements, time and care in making this trip a success! May you be well and happy always!
